December 4-6, 12:00 PM , CAMBOFEST: Film and Video Festival of Cambodia, (Kampot, Cambodi): CAMBOFEST: Film and Video Festival of Cambodia is Cambodia's only independent movie festival, founded by Tisch alumnus Jason Rosette '91 (BFA, F&TV). Now in its third year, CamboFest screens new independent movies from around the world, including Cambodia; our aim is to help re-establish a viable film and media sector in Cambodia following its destruction during the Khmer Rouge regime. Tenth St. (New York, NY): American-born Israeli choreographer Netta Yerushalmy '99 (BFA, Dance) peers into solitary lives existing simultaneously and in close proximity as part of New York's cityscape in Rooms Without a View. The single connection each performer has to one another is the arbitrarily shared location in an apartment building. December 15, DEADLINE: Sundog Theatre Submissions for one-act plays for Scenes from the Staten Island Ferry 2010: Guidelines: Submit original plays not previously produced or published. All plays should be 10-20 minutes long and have their setting on the Staten Island Ferry. Plays should be contemporary, involve 2-3 characters and require no special set pieces other than benches or railings found on the ferry, limited and easily accessible props, no special sound or lighting requirements. Please avoid overt and unnecessary sexual/violence situations and language since we cater to a broad audience. No musicals or long monologues, poetry, or classical verse please since these plays are memorized by actors in a very short time. Submission Procedure: Please send two copies, bound, blind submission (removable cover page with title, author and contacts) to Sundog Theatre, Scenes 2010, P.O. Box 10183, Staten Island, NY 10301-0183. Submissions should include brief synopsis, play history, a bio and resume of the author. They should be postmarked no later than December 15. DO NOT submit plays electronically. Remuneration: Six authors will receive $100 and be produced in our series of eight March 2010 performances in Staten Island and Manhattan. December 16, 7:30 PM, 2nd Annual Robert Garlock '88 Tribute Screening, Pre-release Screening of Nine (in theaters on December 25, 2009) with Introduction by Penelope Cruz, Florence Gould Hall, 55 East 59 St. (New York, NY): In loving memory of Robert Garlock '88, NYU Tisch School of the Arts is honored to host, in collaboration with Robert's community of colleagues, the 2nd Annual Robert Garlock Tribute Screening. Proceeds from the screening benefit the Robert Garlock Memorial Scholarship at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. The scholarship fund provides support to two students in the department of Cinema Studies, the department in which Robert studied. Advance ticket purchase required.
